Then, administrators of the platform who work directly for Reddit, are hired and guided to keep order. From that level, moderators of groups have been cultivated over the last 10 – 15 years, which this publicly traded company inherited. Those people are more obviously censors, however, enough regular users within a group can band together and enforce platform policy or abuse it to stamp out thoughts they feel are dangerous for their own wellfare.
Regular users, disconnected from this, engage as if there is a fair exchange of ideas and only the best ones rise to the top.
That is false, though.

In philosophical terms, it represents a collapse not of intellect, but of agency.
