A Washingtonian Revolution Will Be Liberating

You will not hear any politician speak of a Washingtonian revolution. Not only would they not be able to define one or imagine it, but it threatens their career. America’s first President hated the idea of political parties. He believed them to be of the most dangerous and degrading aspects of country.

Yet here we are, with a “2 party system” which looks more every day like a single uniparty with (2) broken wings. Though both sides would argue the point, there is 0 need for political parties. Especially in today’s world where any individual has access to the same kinds of DIY self-serve media distribution and advertising platforms.

There are approximately 36,000,000 registered Republicans and 45,000,000 registered Democrats, but there are over 100,000,000 registered voters with no party affiliation.

You see, we already have a Washingtonian society.

It’s just these Democrats and Republicans want you to believe that they are necessary for the functioning of our country. They are not. More than that, these political parties have demonstrated time after time that they are chiefly responsible for our dysfunction.

Washington’s Farewell Address Was A Warning Not Heeded

“Let me now take a more comprehensive view, and warn you in the most solemn manner against the baneful effects of the spirit of party generally.”

In no uncertain terms did George Washington tell the American people and his fellows in government how bad of an idea political parties were. The word “baneful” is powerful. That is meant for things which are of the ultimate and absolute worst. To Washington, political parties would be come the bane of our existence. I think that moment has come. That means it’s time to end it.

Political Parties Are Ripe For Foreign Influence

“It opens the door to foreign influence and corruption, which finds a facilitated access to the government itself through the channels of party passions.”

It could not be more apparent here and now today how that has happened. Whether you look at Russia/Ukraine, Israel/Gaza, or plenty of other past conflicts the United States has become embroiled in, the entry point for lobbyists from other nations finds their root in one or both political parties. Moreover this opens the door to straight up bribe officials via party vehicles or PAC’s and donation sources instead of treating each individual elected official as an individual. That would make corruption more obvious and potentially easier to stop. Once the protection racket of these parties is long gone, we can all become free of the foreign influence that has embedded itself in the Republicans and Democrats.

Popular As They May Be, Political Parties Are Dangerous – With Few Benefits

“However [political parties] may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterward the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion.”

The phrase “cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men” accurately describes the present moment though I would not discriminate when it comes to women with the same lack of principles. This idea of being able to “subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of  government” can be perfectly seen in the technocratic cabinet we currently have.

Faction Fighting Was Washington’s Greatest Fear

“The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge, natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism.”

This notion of being “sharpened by the spirit of revenge,” is clear in today’s political realm. The only actual opposition that is found within the party system seems to be interpersonal beefs between those who vie for power in the established frameworks. Nobody who goes into politics does so to undo the party system. Not even people like Bernie Sanders or Rand Paul who occassionally complain about the “uniparty” or lack of differentiation on certain issues between Republicans and Democrats.

For example, the spending bill that is currently in the process of Congressional review, is going to increase our debt. It is supported in a bipartisan way. There is virtually no opposition to it whatsoever. Those who do oppose it have not found a way to dissuade their colleagues yet, and the fight about it in public is mostly fake outrage from Democrats.

The people get lost in the shuffle. That’s the main problem. Parties can ignore the people. Individuals in government would be more likely to address those needs; outside of consult with party elders or consultants. Officials would get elected or lose based on their merit, concepts, and capabilities. Rather than fealty to entrenched powers.

A Final Word From Washington

“There is an opinion that parties in free countries are useful checks upon the administration of the government and serve to keep alive the spirit of liberty. … But in those of the popular character, in governments purely elective, it is a spirit not to be encouraged.”

What he is saying here is the fact that parties might be useful, but should no be encouraged. To that end, you could imagine a world where they have a useful function to organize, but not much else. These parties should not, as corporate style entities, be so powerful that they can hold back progress or protect their own from corruption charges. Theft of public funds, betrayal of the public trust, and the other crimes elected officials from these political parties commit – must be stopped.

But they will not fix themselves from the inside out.

Destroying The Democrats & The Republicans To Preserve Democracy

Individual party members need to know that this is not your sole responsibility. But leaving the parties and/or totally unregistering from the voter rolls is a protest that any American can participate in for free.

You will see quickly after doing so, how people in your life get uncomfortable. There is a thought deep inside many Americans that is the belief – without these parties – there would be anarchy. It just isn’t true. Think about it: if every member of Congress simply left their party now that they are in office, what would happen?

They might lose election next year, sure.

But they would still be in their seat. They would still vote on bills and propose legislation. They would still represent their district or state. But they would no longer represent the will or needs of their party.

If membership dropped from these parties, it would be a demonstration that they aren’t working for the people anymore. But remaining in – says that you support them – even if they don’t represent you.

Taxation Without Representation Is Slavery In Any Century

On the surface, a Washingtonian revolution might sound scary. Not everything has to be a bloody battle or a freezing boat ride over the Delaware. Simply removing yourself from the party system is a start. It is a demonstration that you no longer believe in this system, and that our constitution is built to exist without and outside of a party system. Remember that our first President believed political parties were the bane of a nation, not an asset.

If your political party doesn’t represent you and they win, you lose. If they do represent you and they lose then you also lose? So when do you win as a voter? If you vote and they represent you. However, all too often Americans are being taxed without representation. Or these days they have paid into programs like Social Security or Medicare and now won’t be afforded it. Or it is being taken away.

That is all wrong.

Washington Knew, and We Must Rebel

Rebel against your political party. Rebel against the factions of politics as a concept. Do not comply and do not commit to them. Make them commit to us.

These parties have ruled and ruined our country for far too long. People that represent these parties become dehumanizing forces that no longer serve the will of the country. Whether you identify as a Republican or Democrat, these days you know this to be true. For those who are registered voters with no party affiliation, you know this to be true as well.

The next generation deserves better.

Let’s give it to them.
